My paintings are often about what I can remember about the feeling of a specific landscape. The landscape comes back in my paintings like abstract memories. I use figures very seldom but if so they appear ghostlike under a layer of pattern or with the back towards us as well looking at us in an inner mental state, like they are daydreaming, the time stand still and they are occupied with their own thoughts. These figurative works are more representing the past or a dream that stayed in my mind, dealing with a psychological state of mind. In my more abstract work fragments appear with light and darkness relating to the day and night. The abstract light takes new form and appears in my work as reflecting sunlight on a lake or as clouds in the sky, diamond shapes moving around representing crystallised air.
What I paint comes mostly from my own experience with colour. I find it important to know how other artist’s work with abstract paintings created from out a representative thought and about the moment when paint become an extension between thought and realization.
Where do we come from, what are we and where do we go? We can tell others where we come from, what we are and where we go next but do they understand the importance of it when they look at the work you made? A story is mirroring in the paint and there are no words except the ones you write to tell. One single title to make the work clearer, sometimes it stays unclear. So the questions are more in the hand of the visitor, the one passing by using the eyes to study the paint. While making a painting you ask constantly questions and sometimes you struggle with the fact that you make a story which will be compared, read and transformed in someone else mind different than in your own. With my work I try to stay open to the effect colour has on us.
